Default What happens at court date?

    Hi,

We received our court date (hearing) for dissolution of marriage in a few weeks...

It said that 10 minutes are reserved with the judgeicon.

What exactly happens? Is it just verifying that we want to get divorced and to sign the parentingicon agreement? I am not too nervous but would like to know what is going to happen.

    Thank you

If the hearing is 10 minutes, I am guessing that the two of you agree on all issues.

The judgeicon will take testimony that establishes the basic requirements for a Florida divorce. Also, the judge will look at parenting and child supporticon provisions and make sure there is nothing illegal or out of line.

Bring your drivers licenses. Also bring a self addressed stamped envelope.

The final hearing should be smooth and problem free.

What is the purpose of the self-addressed stamped envelope?

From this hearing will the divorce be signed off on by the judgeicon?
Will it be final on the day of the hearing?

We both agree on everything, so there will be no problems in that respect.

Is there something else after this? Another hearing?

I guess I am just confused, I was under the impression that this hearing would be it.

Thank you for your time in answering my question.

    This hearing will be it.

Some judges want envelopes to mail a copy of the final order to you. Some don't need it.

Yes, the hearing will be final and you will be divorced. The only exception - if your judgeicon is a General Magistrate. In that case, the actual final document wil be signed by a Circuit Court Judge 10 days after your hearing.
