Cool Can we decided when it's final

My soon to be ex wife and I are having a fairly amicable divorce. I suspect we will be able to come up with a plan to divide our assets that we can live with and just be able to take care of the necessary legal issues and it will be over. There are no children involved. How much say do we have in when the divorce is final. She will get certain benefits as long as it happens after we've been married 20 years. I'm OK with that but I want to get divorced ASAP after that date.

I think you are asking me if you have a say so in the terms of the settlement???

The two of your can determine absolutely everything. I both of you sign off on an agreement laying out certain terms the judgeicon will respect that agreement.

Default Can we decided when it's final?

I am guessing you are military and want to wait for the 20 year mark for benefits. Yes, you can wait to finalize the divorce. You can have all the documents prepared and file for the divorce when you and your spouse are ready. Proceed with some caution, as courts have held that delaying a final hearing for the sole purpose of health insurance benefits is improper.
