    Default abusive relationship

My husband is not physically abusive, but is verbally abusive and that is why I am seeking a divorce which he claims he will contest if I try it. After reading alot of information, judges and attourneys arent really interested in the problem which brought you to this point, they are only interested in the division of property, so even tho I've been mentally and verbally abused for all these years, that isnt taken into consideration. I also learned I cannot get a restraining order, only if he hits me and if I did, would my child who is 13 not be aloud to see him. He is very good to here, but not to myself

I was wondering. My husband has thousands of dollars in credit card debt,
but my name is not on any of his accounts. He also has large hospital bills that was caused by an accident. Am I accountable for these debts during a divorce

If I took life insurance out for myself and my two children before I married the one I'm married to, can he claim that as his too

    Default

    The life insurance policy depends.
Any bills accrued during a marriage are presumed marital which means you each are responsible for 50% but the court has the ability to distribute that a little differently, if the court finds reason, such as sources of income.
Unfortunately, the abuse does not factor in to much if anything in a divorce case. If there is a restraining order in place between you and your spouse the court MAY still allow him to see your daughter depending upon what she has seen.
