Question Stuck with His Car Payments

    Hello,

I'm currently going through a divorce, and shortly after deciding to get a divorce my estranged husband quit his job and now he has moved out of state. Still with no job. I'm currently now raising our 2 year old daughter, paying all the bills, working a full time job, and going to school full time. After 2 months of him quitting his job, he still doesn't have one, and doesn't have the money to pay his car payment, which the loan is in both of our names. I deferred the payment for a month with hopes that he will get a job soon. But with his track record, he probably won't. Also, he is requesting alimonyicon, which I don't understand how he can get since I barely make enough money for both my daughter and I.

My question is; Should I pay his car payment, even though he took off out of state with the vehicle and not contributing to ANY of the bills or our daughters costs. Also, if I do pay the car payment, would that be more proof for his lawyer to say that I can pay for alimony?

I look forward to your help. Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Ali

If this is a car that he is driving, the choice is yours. If you do not make the payments it will effect your credit but you have done nothing wrong in divorce court. Making the payment can show the court that you have the ABILITY to pay things on his behalf which is one of the main things the court is looking for in an alimonyicon determination.
