Default Back child support; never legally modified?

In 1999, my ex parents in law agreed to lend me money if I would agree to reduce child supporticon; I signed and document which stated that they would front me $10,000 toward their son's child support at a reduced rate, and that I would then agree to a further reduction for the rest of his payments. We did not go back to court to modify the original marital settlement agreement. It has recently come to my attention that this was not a legally binding agreement and I can go to court and get the difference between what was actually paid and what was stipulated in our divorce agreement. Is this true?

Maybe, maybe not. The courts do respect certain types of agreements. But there are some definite limits - especially with child supporticon. I would recommend you spend a bit of money (not much needed) to have your documents reviewed.
