Question and a little about whats going on
Hi, my name is Vanessa; I am a single mother of two Adrian 3yrs old and Hayleigh 8yrs old. I am in need of an attorney that helps with custody and parental planning for Adrian. I have had several issues with his father and we have been divorced since 2008. I have tried to get along with him and divide everything 50/ 50 but he refuses to, he drops Adrian off with several family members and friends. He has felonies, battery, possession charges on his record and the most recent one is resisting arrest with out violence on an officer. I have had phone calls from his sister and girl friend needing me to take Adrian. Department of Children and Family has drug tested him several times and he has been positive for weed. They still haven’t been able to do anything concerning this matter but give him a scheduled date for another drug test. Unbelievable! I don’t know what to do and don’t have money to pay for an attorney. What I want to know is, what does one have to do in order to loose custody of a child and what can I do for Adrian so he can gain stability, he seems so confused and needs a stable environment.

Unfortunately you have to work within the system. I assume your case is already in the court system - based on the fact that the father must take drug tests ??
You should try applying to legal aid. That is the first step. Also, there are some lower cost alternatives
for opening up a modification
case.
