How long should alimony modification take?

Due to financial circumstances, I have had to ask the court to modify alimony payments. I am under an income deduction order that takes almost all of my income. The process was started in January, and now my home is in foreclosure. Most of the delays have been through attorney error. Is this an unreasonable time frame to wait? Do I have any recourse?
