Angry Can he really get alimony?

I have been married for 11 years. Husband and I have both always worked up until 10 months ago. In the last 3 years he has either been fired with cause or terminated (with cause) from his last 3 jobs (once for racial discrimination, once for poor job performance and once for losing his drivers license-he drove a compnay vehicle). He has refused to look for work or even apply anywhere for the last 10 months. During the course of the marriage we averaged about the same income or I made slightly higher. However for the last three years, there has been about a $20,000 difference due to his firings and refusal to work. This is not a one spouse stay at home arrangement. He is threatening me with alimonyicon. We have not started divorce proceedings yet. I make 43,000 and we have two children, one 8 and the other 15. I carry all health insurance. He has started heahily drinking and becoming verbally abusive. We live in Alabama. Have lost home to foreclosure due to his lack of work and we are in tremendous debt. His last job 3 years ago paid 45,000 a year. Can he get alimony?

It appears your case would in Alabama. I am sorry, but I can only answer questions on Florida divorce law.

You need to talk with an attorney in your state. But I will say: this type of situation is usually time-critical. Don't wait - go in for a consult.
