How long does an employer have to forward child support after payday?

Hello. My ex is working and I've spoken to his employer to verify that he is working. I am getting my child support once a month if not longer but he gets paid every 2 weeks. Are employers allowed to hold on to that money so long? If not, what can I do to rectify the situation?
