    Unhappy Florida - Witnesses

FLORIDA - I am representing myself in court - no choice - do not have $ for lawyer and cant get legal aid. How do I get the court to subpoena someone as a witness in my case. If I ask them, they wont want to appear. It is their family member they would testify against Plus I heard something about the courts can make the person who can afford a lawyer pay for one for the other person. Is that so and if it is how do I get that done? Thanks for your help

You must prepare your own subpoena, go into the clerk, and they will stamp it. Then you must have a process server serve it on the witness. There may be a form on flcourts.org.

Getting the other side to pay for an attorney is not a simple matter.

I understand you did not mention your specific financial situation, but the majority of people can afford a one-hour visit with an attorney for the purpose of getting a game plan. During that time, some critical documents can be drafted.
