My husband now want to adopt my son. The real father disapear... plz help.
My son is 4 yrs old. The real father of my son and i were never married and after the baby was born he disappear and did not recognize legally my son. It got to my knowledge that the real father left the country(deported) and went back to south america. The real father never wanted nothing to do with, wanted me to abort and never ever give me a dime for my son. Now my husband of 3 yrs been there for us since i was preg with my son,has raised him, love him as if he was his and want to legally adopt my son. we also have a 3 yr old girl. What should we do? Any idea how much this cost?I know i will be told to get a lawyer but i will like to have an idea of what steps to follow and how long can this take?
Thanks for any advice. It mean the world to us.

You must file an adoption case. Part of the procedure will be to search the putative father registry to see if anyone has asserted a possible claim.
