    Default TAX Time

In my Mediation Agreement, I get to claim one of my daughters and my ex-wife claims the other as Dependants on our taxes. I remarried last year in April. I wanted to know that if my wife and I file our tax return as joint, will this be considered combining incomes in reference to child supporticon. I am disabled Veteran and have no taxable income, it is used for calculating child support. Wanted to know before filling if this could come back to bite me since my ex and I exchange tax returns each year.
As always thank you for your time and advice.

No. Only your portion of the income will count.

    Default Tax Filing Question

    Hi
I got married in June 2010, moved in together. Moved out October 2010 and divorce is in process and filed in December 2010. No children, financial ties or otherwise together. Am I considered legally separtated in FL if the papers are filed? I would like to file single to take advantage of the education credit. Is there any possible way to avoid filing married separate?
    Thank you

There is no legal separation in Florida. You will need to file married filing joint or married filing separate. You might want to speak with a tax expert further about any possible tax breaks you can claim.
