Child Support

I got a divorce in 1993 and was ordered to pay child support. I never paid support and my ex never gave me her information. We got joint custody and I haven't got to see him in 17 years. I found him on facebook and my ex is now trying to enforce child support. I will pay but I don’t think it’s fair. She had the privilege to raise our child. I just don’t want to go to jail nor have my license suspended. I have a family now I am trying to support. Who can I contact to explain my situation that will try to understand?

If child support was ordered in Florida you can contact the Department of Revenue Child Support Enforcement in order to do a review of the child support amount. If you want to contest paying support and the time sharing arrangement that was ordered then you need to contact the court that has jurisdiction to modify same.
