Default Internatinal divorce and Local, is it possible?

My wife has filed for divorce in Uruguay but the process takes at least another 7 months after at least going thrugh 2 years. I live in Florida and will like to know if it is posible for me to file a divorce in Florida in parallel to the one that she has filed in Uruguay? Would there be any conflicts with this? It would be uncontested and there is a child involved but all issues have been agreed to. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

You can try but there may be complications. I assume the child does not reside in Florida? If so, the FL court will refuse to enter orders concerning children's issues.

You will need to disclose to the FL court that a case is in progress somewhere else. That may put the kibosh on your case.

But it is not illegal to try.
