    Default Pension benefit legal

Hi, I am been separated for over a year and I just retired, I want it to put my son as the beneficiary of my pension, even tho.. is not much of a pension. My wife want her daughter to be the beneficiary which is not my daughter even tho.. this pension was long before I married her. Her daughter is not my real daughter but she insisting to have her as the beneficiary . Do I have to divorce her before I can do something about it ??
    thanks

You can change the beneficiary at will. But your wife may try to impose a claim in court later on. The safest thing to do is to get a divorce first.
