    Default Alimony question

Hi I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post and I greatly appreciate your answer.
My question is in regard to alimonyicon; I have been married for 6 years and have been dependent on my husband since. We have a 4 yr old child which I stayed home with for 3 years. I have had a temporary job for the last year working part time since my son started PK so that I can pay for his school. I am now ready to start a new career by attending 2 yr program in a university. My husband is threatening to divorce me if I start school and dont get a minimum wage job instead of going to school. If we get divorced am I entiled to alimony until such time that I can get my feet?

Your marriage is legally termed a "short term marriage" and you can only request certain types of spousal support/alimonyicon. You could ask for bridge-the-gap alimony (to assist you to move out, pay for utilities to be turned on, etc.), temporary alimony (while the case is pending) or durational alimony (a new term in the statutes and will need to explain more in person).

You will not be entitled to spousal support/alimony beyond the years of marriage.
