terminaltin of parental rights ?

My soon to be ex has signed the divorce papers. We are waiting for a court date to be set. We have no property or assets to divide however, we have a child in common.

He also signed a paper to terminate his parental rights. He wants nothing to do with his child.
I want nothing to do with him again as there was abuse involved during the one year marriage.

Is there any thing he can do to recant on signing the papers??

I am afraid he might try something to get back at me for bringing charges against him for the abuse.

Unless the judge signs an order terminating parental rights, a simple piece of paper will have no legal effect.

Based on what you said, I do not believe his rights are terminated.
