    Default Child Care Question:

    Hi,
My friend has a daughter and is taking a missionary trip to Dominican Republic. She wants us (my wife and I ) to watch her for a week, instead of the father. The father is against it, saying he will call the cops on her and get her arrested if he does not have her for that week. Is there any truth to his statements or can she leave her daughter with whoever she wants??

    Thanks!

Your question requires more information. There is a premise in Florida for Right of First Refusal and that means if the Father is available to care for the child then he has a superior right to watch the child than someone else (even another family member). The answer greatly depends on whether there has been a court order etc. Please have her consider calling our office for a free 1/2 consultation to discuss this issue in greater detail.
