Unhappy Dealing with child support and an ex that gets everything she wants.

Okay as brief as possible, for five years my fiance and I have had his son. This is one of the kids that were in original child supporticon order. He came to live with us because his mom's new boyfriend didn't get along with him. She was supposed to drop child support because now she had one child and we took the other. This was "supposed" to happen, but never did. She claimed him on her taxes every year even though he was not in household, and because this is a short post many other things that were not right. Anyways we have no income and the child support had piled up, and recently they finally got the divorce final. In this process he was told that he had to pay back child support for the five years we had his son for his son to her. He is now 18 and just graduated, so now he has to pay child support for the fifteen year old she is supposed to have, but honestly she never knows where she is nor have we recieved visitation for years. I am at wits end with child support enforcement because over the years we have tried to get them to drop child support, and once to start an order for his son which was dropped because "they couldn't find an address for her" at the same time we sent lump sum payment of child support they found her to give her money. Please help really need some advice.

He probably cannot "unwind" the order for arrears. Once that is reduced to an order - that is pretty much it. You have to fight that type of thing immediately, not after the fact.

I assume the Florida Dept of Revenue handled the child supporticon part?? If so, they tend to see things in a black and white way - and it is almost impossible to argue fine points of the case. I believe the situation with the daughter needs to be addressed by the court that handled the divorce. It sounds like he didn't have an attorney? All these types of situations are addressable but it always must be done proactively and correctly.

Sorry this does not provide a solution. It sounds to me like he did not attack the situation with the help of an attorney.
