I have friend who has 2 children 7 and 10 with her ex-boyfriend. Her ex has been in out and out of prison for the last 10 years and is now released. The problem is there has never been any document stating visitation or child supportrights. My friend works 2 jobs while taking care of the children full-time. She supports them fully with her own apartment and all. Since he has been released he has not been working a legit job where he receives a paycheck. Instead he opts to work for small jobs here and there while he gets paid under the table and gives her nothing, although he wants to see the kids whenever he feels he can, which isn't very often. Basically, whenever it doesn't conflict with his life. My friend is drowning in bills and is exhausted from working two jobs and needs help. Her ex keeps stating and sending her text messages now, that since she has a new boyfriend he will never pay her a dime to help with their children and will continue to work under the table so its not documented and believes he won't get in trouble since there is no proof he is working. Please tell me there is something that she can do to receive support. There must be something, a law or statute that deals with this kind of situation. I really hope there is something she can do. She works 7 days a week! For the last 5 years I might add. And he just works here and there thinking he can cheat the system.
