    Default Child Support Reduction

I feel I am paying way too much for child supporticon. My ex is not working at all. Both boys are in school, are on free lunch at school, and have insurance covered by the state of Georgia. I live in Florida. Our divorce was finalized in Florida. Do I have to go through Florida or Georgia to get my support adjusted?

You can file a Supplemental Petition for modificationicon of child supporticon here in Florida. You would re-open your divorce case and use that same case number. In order to modify you child support, you must prove there has been a substantial change in circumstances since the last order was entered. A substantial change in circumstances could involve your pay has decreased or your ex's pay has increased, or there are expenses for the children that were included in the original calculation that no longer are being incurred. You can also petition for a modification if under the guidelines your payment amount would change 15% or $50, whichever is greater.
