A Motion for Contempt hearing is a hearing where the moving party will argue/present evidence to the judgethat the other party failed to comply with something (court order). The Judge will either grant the Motion or Deny the Motion based on the evidence presented. If the Judge finds that the person failed to comply willfully then the Judge will order a remedy (usually monetary and attorney's fees if it is not a child support
issue). If your ex has a pending Supplemental Petition to Modify alimony
then it is not likely the court will hear the Motion for Contempt separately (these two motions have similar issues and should/can be heard together).
