I live in Florida. Was divorced in Florida in 2004. I was ordered to pay $100.00 per week since 2004 Florida department of revenue Disbursement Unit In Tallahassee. At that time the Notice was entered into our court file I was about $3000.00 behind in child support. May of 2008 the department of revenue, child support enforcement filed this Notice of Termination of IV- D Services in our court case jacket.

Then in 2008 I called my attorney and was told my child support obligation had ended. The attorney said: She probably moved out of state. So I thought cool. But to be safe I called Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement and the Disbursement unit spoke with a lady and she said my case was closed. So I thought all was ok.

Then in 2008 I called my attorney and was told my child support obligation had ended. The attorney said: She probably moved out of state. So I thought cool. So I haven�t spoken to the department of revenue since 2003, which is 8 yrs, the Department of revenue took no action against me. Even with the $3000.00 in arrearages. Upon attempting to renew my car tags In September 2011 I found my license was suspended by the Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement used the Department of transportation to achieve this. Then I called the courthouse clerk to ask if I owed and back child support. She yes: $20,638.40. I was shocked.

I am would like to learn the legal definition of the above document: �Notice of Termination of IV-D Services�?
What are my rights and the Legal remedies to resolve this situation?

Just because there is no child support going forward, that does not mean you have no arrears. You may want to contact the clerk of court and get a disbursement unit printout. The printout will show all your debits and credits, your current balance, and whether you owe an amount going forward. Also, your last court order should provide important info.
