    Default Question????

If an ex spouse is filing a joint tax return with their new spouse, will a judgeicon look at this,if he is saying he doen't have enough income to pay me,if the ex is taking me to court to modify my alimonyicon??I know that they use a live-in as extra money for the one receiving alimony. Another ? should I ask the ex to show some kind of letter proof that he was told to retire or be fired from the sheriffs office? He is saying this was circumstances beyond his control and he had to retire, hence the petition to modify my alimony(55yoa).I know people think it's a shame for the ex to receive alimony, but sometimes that ex put their spouses through school to better their lives and didn't think of their own livelyhood. Now we are too old or sick to even think of starting over careerwise....Wish I'd have thoght of myself when I was younger, wouldn't be in this mess. Thanks so much, your site very educating.

Other sources of income or expenses paid by another person can enter the alimonyicon decision process.

A letter may not be admissible in court. It would be better to call the employer as a witness. The clerk of court can help you arrange a witness subpoena.
