moving out of state

If I am the petitioner in a pending divorce case, and the respondant has custody of our child, can I move to another state before the divorce is final? How do I go about notifying the court, and am I required to attend the hearing if I live in another state?

Normally you cannot relocate out of state during an active custody case.
