Default Is it necessary to be physically separated?

My wife and I are thinking of filing an uncontested dissolution of marriage in Florida. The divorce would be amicable with joint custody of our 5-year-old son, and the following provisions made by both parents -- (1) by one for the child's maintenance, and (2) by the other for the cost of his advanced education.

Question: Since the court requires a separation date, is it necessary to be physically separated or does the court allow that we reside under the same roof, using the date that we decided to divorce as the date of separation? Appreciate advice.

The court does not care about those details. As long as the children's issues make sense and conform to prevailing law, you are free to make any arrangements you want.
