    Default Delaying the case

I have a hearing schedule on Feb 5th to set a trial date regarding my custody case. However, I want to delay the hearing until I have had the chance to file a motion for discovery and an motion to show cause. Is it too late?

    Thank you for your help.

I assume the "hearing" is a pre-trial conference. You can ask for needed time in that conference.

    Default Calendar call

As previouly posted I have a court order stating that I have a calendar call on Feb. 5th is this the same as a pretrial conference? Can I make the request for extension then? or should I file the corresponding motion ahead of time?
    Thank you for your help.

Depending on the jurisdiction your "calendar call" may refer to trial week. You need to have an attorney read your documents and also take a look at the court docket.
