    Default College Education

I am in the middle of a divorce and have a 12 year old Daughter, my soon to be ex wants to put in the divorce papers that we both are liable for my daughter college education not to exceed 15000 dollars a piece a year. Don't get me wrong I am willing to help but just to say I will pay 15000 dollars a year with no conditions bothers me, how do I know how my expenses will be 6 years from now. My question is, is there a standard process for this situation.

I would not mind putting something in the papers like both parents will discuss college when the time comes. Do you have any suggestions on what might be a happy medium, niether one of us make alot of money

I have seen some people caught in a "vise" by that type of provision. It will become a huge problem if you are unemployed when college rolls around.

I think that sort of thing should be voluntary. There is no standard process for that type of expense.

If the two of you disagree, a judgeicon does not have the authority to impose college expenses on you.
