Husband trying not to divorce me, because of settlements soon to be rewarded.
My husband is trying to wait until he gets his settlements from his former employer, to divorce me so he will not have to split it with me. He thinks if he is married to me, he can give me nothing but if divorced he will have to pay me. He did just that with his retirement money and taxes he filed with all of us on. He owes 6 years+ child support
, and just had another child, while we are still married with someone else.
I need to file for divorce, because he will try to not give us anything. I am the reason he got the job in the first place and worked and supported all of us for almost 10 years. together 16 years total. Together 10, married 1 year, separated 5 years. For 6 years, I have supported myself and 3 children alone.
How can I make sure he is required to split things fairly and pay child support?

Wait until the settlement is in the bank and then file. You may or may not be entitled to a part of the settlement. Also, this is a bad way to go if he is going to take the money and leave the country.
