My ex-girlfriend lives in Michigan and she has physical custody of my 6 year old daughter. What do I need to do to fight for custody of my daughter here in Florida? When I have her for visitation can I file for custody in the Florida courts while she is in the state?

If your daughter has resided in Michagan for 6 months or more - that will be the state that has jurisdiction. You must file there.
