Question do I have to pay for Cobra insurance?

H moved out;filed for divorce, has advanced cancer. For now, all his chemo etc is paid for by great health ins I still pay for. He just pays small copays. After divorce his Medicare will kick in but he wants me to pay for COBRA ins. on top of that. Can he force me to do this? If so, for how long? I have more assets than he has. I checked-will be very $$$.

My heart goes out to him, but I don't want to be responsible for med, nutritional, alternative medical expenses after divorce because he is/could run up huge bills searching for a cure.
How do I protect myself? If he wanted that coverage, he should have come back when I offered, or heck--not file for divorce and just stay separated.

Last, somewhere it says to cancel joint accts or remove his name. I froze it but don't want to cancel. Since the month he was diagnosed, I've paid for a credit protection plan that will totally pay off the balance if either of us dies. He never picked up the new card so we won't be adding new charges. Is this ok for now?

That depends on whether alimonyicon is an issue in your case - because COBRA payments would be a type of alimony.

    No stock answer.

Yes, it sounds OK if it serves other purposes.
