Forum: Family Law Cases on Appeal

This section will be devoted to divorce, custody, support, and alimony cases that have been appealed. Interesting cases, their circumstances, and their final outcomes will be summarized. Why are family law appeals important? Because appellate cases define the meaning of our laws in Florida. As each case is appealed and decided, a body of law called appellate law is published and referenced by lawyers and judges. The trial courts are guided by appellate cases. If a particular issue has been appealed and decided - it is the duty of trial courts to follow the same general logic on that particular issue. Every few weeks we will post a new case. By reading this section you will develop an understanding of Florida divorce and custody law.
