Curb Your Enthusiasm's Hines files for divorce
08/25/2010
'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star, Cheryl Hines, has filed for divorce from her husband just weeks shy of their eighth wedding anniversary.
The actress, who stars as Larry David's long-suffering wife – also called Cheryl – in the acclaimed comedy, submitted paperwork to a Los Angeles court last month seeking a divorce from her husband, Paul Young.
A representative for the actress confirmed her actions and said the couple intended to "remain extremely close friends." The divorce papers cite the grounds of the separation as 'irreconcilable differences' but the representative made no further comment on the reasons that caused the split.
The couple have a six-year-old daughter together, Catherine Rose, and aim to keep things amicable in order to continue raising her together. Young is the founder of the Hollywood management firm Principato-Young.
Hines's divorce mirrors her character's marital misfortune in the hit show, which saw her character lose patience with her bumbling on-screen husband and file for divorce in the last season.
That plot line, in turn, made reference to Larry David's real-life travails. He and his environmental lobbyist wife, Laurie, announced their separation in July 2007, with their super-quick divorce completed before the end of that month.
