Slash seeks divorce from wife of nine years

Guns 'N' Roses guitarist, Slash, has announced that he and his wife of nine years are to divorce, citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the cause of the split.

The 45-year-old musician – whose real name is Saul Hudson – filed papers for his divorce from wife, Perla Ferrar, at L.A. County Superior Court this week, giving July 15 of this year as the date they first separated.

A spokesman for Slash verified the news, telling People magazine, "I can confirm the divorce papers were filed and from Slash’s perspective the split is amicable."

Following the sudden news of the split, sources close to the couple have said there was no prior warning that the couple was on the verge of separating. In the past the rocker has publicly recognized the good influences that Ferrar has had on his life.

Only in March of 2009 he spoke of how his family had helped him settle down and that Perla had "got rid of all the real hardcore stuff that I used to live on."

The couple, who wed in October 2001, have two sons together – London, 8, and Cash, 4. They are understood to be working out a joint physical and legal custody arrangement.
