Zooey Deschanel files for divorce
01/06/2012
Actress Zooey Deschanel, 31, has officially filed for divorce from her husband of two years Ben Gibbard, it has been confirmed.
The couple separated on Halloween, but now the paperwork has been filed at the LA Superior Court in what has been reported as a “mutual and amicable” decision.
The documents were received on 27 December and, according to the reports from TMZ, cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
Meanwhile, the gossip mill has been keen to learn more about the actress's finances as revealed in the divorce documents. The papers confirmed that she holds around $3 million in assets, with $95,000 a year coming in from her work in band She & Him. Her expenses are listed as around $22,500 a month. These issues will all need to taken into consideration by the couple's divorce lawyers.
The pair appear to have maintained a civil front on the divorce, with Deschanel insisting that things remained “friendly”, while little has been heard from the Death Cab for Cutie frontman Gibbard.
Deschanel, has recently starred in sitcom 'New Girl', which is doing relatively well in the ratings, and has also been working on some musical outlets.
