Love and Affection for the Child
and Existing Bonds
Does the child have an obvious bond with one parent or another?
Is the child going through a phase of life where a male or female role model is needed?
And have both parents shown a "normal" amount of love and affection for the child?
This is a difficult area for the court to decide on because both parents normally want custody if they love the child. If you are several years away from divorce, start spending regular, quality-time with your child. Keep a log of your activities, as this will be good evidence during a custody dispute.
