Child support review for adjustment
I received a letter from Florida CSE requesting a re-evaluation of my current child support
order. They have, of course, requested all of my financial records as well as other pertinent information. I started paying child support about four years ago. My financial picture/status has not exactly increased in any sizable value since the original evaluation (lost my house, was laid off, had to relocate to Indiana for employment, etc.). In fact, it has probably gotten worse or perhaps stayed the same. I have also been diagnosed with a heart condition that costs me extra money. The child’s mother has continued to get into trouble with the law, including a recent DUI arrest (which I'm assuming is why she needs more money). She also has an extensive arrest record, including a hit and run with a motor vehicle which involved a fatality (not a model citizen to say the least).
1. I don't even know where to begin, is there anything I can do to keep my payments from increasing?
2. Should I contact an attorney before sending the re-evaluation packet to FL CSE? (Is any effort on my part futile?)
3. What kinds of additional information should I possibly include in the evaluation packet (regarding my situation or her)?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff S.

It will not increase significantly if your income has not increased.

An attorney would be best for the response and the hearing. In those types of hearings and attorney will make a difference in the final number.
3. What kinds of additional information should I possibly include in the evaluation packet (regarding my situation or her)?
The info you send will not be used to help you - so I doubt including extra "stuff" will make a difference. The Dept of Revenue is not there to help you in this situation.
