Default support for an unknown child

I have a friend that just found out they have a 16 year old son. He just received a letter from a child supporticon office in Florida about filing for support. He is currently not sure if he is the father. How would he go about finding this out when he lives in Mississippi. Also would he be required to pay back child support or just support from the date paternity is established forward? Please advise, he is very upset over this issue!!!

If he properly responds to any paperwork he receives, a DNA test will be required. Those tests are 99.9 % accurate.

child supporticon would be from two years prior their filing date in court.
